After years away from Brazil, I was feeling homesick. Dressed up as a soap opera photographer during Carnival, I had an epiphany.
I found out I liked to take pictures of daily life, and the years abroad helped me acquire the perspective of a foreign traveller. I created a tumblr called "Cartiê Bressão" (a counterfeit Brazilian version of Monsieur Henry Cartier-Bresson), with captions that mixed French and Portuguese, and the thing really took off.
The project had lots of press coverage. I've even survived a guest appearance on Brazil's most famous talk show.
After a successful crowdfunding campaign, I've published a book with the photographs, and later went on to exhibit around Brazil at galleries, at the Presidential Palace in Brasilia and at Rio's International Airport.
